COMING IN TO THE HOME STRETCH!!!!!!!!!

As we round the corner in to the month of May, we find ourselves in the home stretch of yet another school year. Some sigh a breath of relief at the close to the first year of high school; others know they have taken another step closer to the mountain peak; and still there are those who are only steps away from ending this journey and beginning another. Where ever you find yourself in the process, here are a few things to remember:

* Finish what you started! Sometimes when the goal is in sight we tend to relax and take for granted the fact that we're "ALMOST" finished. Some even feel they have "paid thier dues" and fail to see thier duties and thier gifts through to the final step. Seeing the mountain top is not reaching the prize. You must go all the way in order to reach the pinacle and then stand at the top of the mountain where the view is crystal clear. Finish with no regrets!

* Pace yourself. Believe it or not there is a lot left to do. Yes there are the tests and the final projects. But there are also the concerts, games, social gatherings, and recognoition events. You need your energy and rest to really enjoy these last few weeks of school. It should be fun, as well as satisfying.

* Be Thankful! During these High School Days a lot of people are involved in your growth, and experience. Be sure to express your gratitude to all of them - even the tough ones. You will be surprised in the years to come how much they have all shaped your future and contributed to your future success and opportunity. Drop them an e-mail, send them a card, or simply take a moment to actually say thank you. They will appreciate it, and you will have the satisifaction of making sure you said it while you remember to do it and while you have the chance to expresss it. (Just a few to remember...Teachers, counselors, administartors, friends, neighbors, and yes, especially your parents)

* Take short glimpses at your future... You don't have to plan the rest of your life (or even summer for that matter), and you don't need to get so focused on school "coming to an end". You are in the PROCESS, taking a step in the journey. There are great memories and life lessons learned, and there is enough future to fill a lifetime. Every so often shine the flashlight ahead so you can see the next step. It maintains your motivation and establishes purpose, but does not overwhelm.

* Stay in touch! Get those names, addresses, and phone numbers. Stay connected over the summer. Tune in to what's coming here next year. We've already started building a great program for next year. Seniors, we want you to stay in touch. Send me an e-mail and I will keep you up on all the happenings in the music dept. of your alma mater. You mean a lot to us, so don't be a stranger.

Good Luck Students as we close out the School Year, and Best Wishes and Godspeed to all of our seniors!

Mr. Cockrell and Mr. Fuchs

Remember: Every time you graduate, you go on into a bigger world, where there are more people to know, more difficult jobs to do, more experiences to have than you have yet gone through.  One of the things which graduation says is that you are now ready to get more out of life.  When you learn to read, a whole new world opens.  When you learn to understand the way a machine works or a government works or why a plant thrives in the sunlight, other worlds open up to you.  We always speak of people growing up; we do not simply mean that they get taller.  We also mean that they move higher in the world, like climbing up a mountain so you can see more and further.
