CHS Music Boosters

The CHS Music Boosters organization supports the Band, Orchestra, and Choral Departments.

As school begins, we the Music Staff would like to invite all of you to support these entertaining and challenging programs by joining the Chantilly High School Music Boosters. This is the best way for parents and families to participate and be involved with the music programs. The support of Parents, Friends, and Alumni enables our directors to focus on the educational experiences of our students and provide the best possible program of studies.

The Music Boosters achieve this support through many programs and service projects. Fundraising, Organized Project Committees, Chaperoning, Uniform Organization, Prop Set and Equipment Building, and Food Preparations are just a few of the examples of how our parents get involved and provide support to the music program. The bottom line is that the boosters perform a vital service and major support to our student program by active involvement in the booster organization. Volunteer work may be organized through our booster leadership and outlines and descriptions of volunteer jobs and opportunities will be regularly updated on our website www.chantillychoral.org.

Just complete the application on the back of this letter and return it as soon as possible to the Music Department. Membership fees/dues help defray organizational costs and largely goes to establish and support our annual booster scholarship fund.

Message from the President:

Dear Parents, Teachers, and Alumni,

Welcome. The Band, Choral, and Orchestra programs are looking forward to another year of outstanding performances. I would like you to share in their achievements by inviting all of you to join the Chantilly High School Music Boosters. The active membership and participation of parents, friends, and alumni is critical for the success of the music programs. By joining the Booster organization, you directly support our music students. Please help by completing the booster application and returning it to the Music Department. Annual dues are a nominal $10 per family, $7 for individuals, and $5 for teachers and alumni.

The Music Boosters hold two meetings during the year, the first one soon after the school year starts and a second one in late spring. Individual meetings for Band, Choral, and Orchestra are held throughout the year. Make plans to attend our first General Membership Meeting to hear about the exciting things planned for 2007-2008.

Some of our past year’s highlights include the Music Department earning the Blue Ribbon Award, and the band being designated a Virginia Honor Band. The Blue Ribbon Award from the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) is in recognition of Superior performances at the District Festivals by each of the top performing groups in the band, choral, and orchestra. The Virginia Honor Band designation from the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA) is in recognition of Superior performances at both the Marching Band Festival and the District Band Festival. Annual crowd-pleasers include the Jazz & Pizzazz shows, the Orchestra Halloween Concert, the Holiday Spectacular performances, and the Chantilly Jazz Festival.

The staff of Glenn Cockrell, Michael Fuchs, Aaron Mynes, Drew Ross, and Keith Taylor makes sure that our community is a great place for your children to receive a music education. They need our volunteer and financial support as our music programs continue to grow and strive for the next levels of success. Be a part of the Chantilly music experience.
